I wasn't able to successfully get beyond the doctor's office until I manually updated the video drivers. The installation package from AMD's website for the Radeon HD 4800 series will fail to install the display drivers for Windows 8.1. These instructions may help others:

1. Go to amd.com - Drivers + Support - Drivers + Download Center
2. Fill in the relevant information choosing Windows 8 even if you have Windows 8.1.
2. Download the latest AMD Catalyst Package
3. Install the latest AMD Catalyst Package, if it fails continue.
4. Test the game, if it fails to resolve the issue, continue5. Open Computer Management
6. Go to Device Manager - Display Adapters - Video Card
7. Right Click - Properties
8. Click the Driver Tab
9. Click 'Update Driver'
10. Click ' Browse my computer for driver software'
11. Click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
12. Click 'Have Disk..'
13. Browse and select C:\AMD\<Latest Created Folder>\Packages\Drivers\Display\<version name folder>\<Highest numbered and largest inf file>
14. Choose your video card from the list
15. Install the driver
16. Restart your computer

I got a computer for my birthday,  I might of bought a newer one but it was a present so I won't complain. :D I had to update to Yoshimite to play this game. I would update my graphic drivers but I don't know how to do on this macbook. It's not so straightforward. The game plays fine up until Europolis. Updating my drivers may be a good idea but Ihaven't found a way to do that.

NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB

I'm not hijacking the thread, I hope your post helps some one. :)

Greetings [Zathi] AMD only supports drivers for 5000 series +, however you can try this.

Windows 8.1 and Legacy ATi/AMD Graphics Drivers

ASI Industries = As i in does tries! My definition.
I will try, i may never succeed in the goal, but at least by trying i have
a greater chance of success than never trying at all!

I have palit radeon hd4850 sonic 512mb video card. I successfully installed drivers from amd.com without manipulations by selecting Windows 8 as a platform and choosing my card from the list, then I was offered to donwload AMD Catalyst Package with legacy drivers. The installation went smoothly. I hope it helps someone, because by default Windows 8.1 installed its own driver which resulted in awful fps.
