1. Give specs and quality settings you're using

- Nvidia GTX 760 (ASUS OC version 2 gb vram)

-Intel i7 4820k (8 cores) running at 3.70 GHz

-8gb RAM.

-Resolution is 1920x1080

-Running at full settings, everything at max/awesome.

2. Say what kind of framerate range you mean when you say choppy

-Around 18-45 it really fluctuates based on where youre looking at.

3. Give an exact location where you're experiencing this (careful of spoilers guys!)

-Europolis mostly, didnt have problems in storytime.

Spoiler

4. And most importantly, try restart the game and see if the same thing still persists.

-Persists.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

RAM: 3GB

Display: AMD Radeon HD 6770 1GB

I mostly played the game on Medium quality, with AA and SSAO turned off, same with motion blur.

The main places where slowdown would occur was in Europolis, mainly when the camera pans to parts of the level with a lot of stuff going on, like down in the Bricks, facing west or north west when near Nela's cart, or just generally when you have your camera aimed at the opposite end of the map when you are near the north or south end of it, like at the Biotech Lab. When not facing heavy areas, I would get a solid 30fps. Even if I pumped up my graphics to maximum I would get a solid 30fps in those areas too. It's just in those heavier areas that when at max settings, it would hit the 5-6 fps mark. If I had the settings on medium, it would go up to 10-15 fps which I could deal with.

In the meantime if you guys could:

1. Give specs and quality settings you're using

2. Say what kind of framerate range you mean when you say choppy

3. Give an exact location where you're experiencing this (careful of spoilers guys!)

4. And most importantly, try restart the game and see if the same thing still persists.

1:
Intel i7-4700HQ @ 2,40GHz

8gb RAM

NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760m - 2gb GDDR5

2:

My framerate is around 5(!) FPS in the game, in the main menu - everywhere.

3:

In the main menu- cinematics - game. solid 5 fps all around.

4:
Tried restarting, settings on low, tweaking graphics options in the nvidia program, nothing helps for better or worse.

Mine's lagging pretty badly too. I put everything in low but it doesn't change a thing. Also, there are some graphical bugs where instead of seeing effects/textures, I just see black squares

Here are my specs:

MacBook Pro 15' 2010

2.4 ghz Intel Core i5 (dual-core)

4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Nvidia Geforce 330M (256 MB Vram)

UPDATE: I got it to working by forcing Geforce 330M at all times. It's still quite laggy though, but at least I can turn up the options and expect decent fps (round 20-30), but I turn it down for stability's sake.

It's just the black blocks that are still constant.

Same problem here, even changing the settings to "low" I couldn't even enjoy the opening video because of how slow it was :'(

I tried to play and I reached the prison now, but I had to stop because it takes too much time also with the dialogues..I was afraid it was my problem, but reading here I feel better knowing it is something that can be solved :D

Except from this, I can say only WOW *-*

Macbook Pro 13" (Mid 2014)

2.8 Ghz Intel Core i5

8 GB Memory

Intel Iris 1536 MB

-The menu screens graphics seem to be a little laggy, in the options I am unable to change resolution.

-The entire intro was slightly laggy, lip syncing isn't great, black blocks flash randomly around the screen.

-This continues until you first control Zoe and everything runs pretty flawlessly and very playable (I can even have medium-high settings)

- cutscenes during gameplay can lag like hell, but not ALL the time. Confusing seeing as they are in-game cutscenes, and the actual gameplay runs well.

My experience actually wasn't too bad considering the problems and I got to the Europolis section outside Romans building, and it keeps crashing down there, and now I can't continue :(

I installed the new OS X Yosemite last night and since then my computer has frozen a few times and another steam game has crashed in the same manner (psychonauts). So this crash could be due to either Yosemite, Steam, or it's just a bug in the game.

Anti-aliasing: None

SSAO: Off

2. Frame rate range

Hard to tell and it depends on the location and cinematics or lackthereof, but seems to be between 5-30 fps

3. Location

Unable to get past the Storytime as the lag prevents me from completing one of the puzzles. This may be a coincidental unrealated bug but I'm not sure. The lag though is even on the menu screen, I was just trying to get as far as I could anyway.

4. Persists?

Yes.

1. Specs
Processor: Intel i7-4770k @3.9 GHz
RAM: 8GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 770 4GB
Operating System: Windows 7

2. Visual Settings
Visual Quality: Awesome
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Fullscreen-mode: On
Anti-aliasing: High
SSAO: High
Noise/Grain: On
Motion Blur: 50%

3. Frame rate range
Title screen: 60 fps, 99% GPU usage.
Chapter 1: averaged of 60 fps.
Chapter 2: tanked to low 30s (did some test and it was due to SSAO; with it off, 60 fps).
Chapter 3: City area, 30-40 fps.

4. Location
As stated above, performance is all over the place. I just reached the city, and I am experiencing very low GPU utilization of around 55% max. Frames hovering around the mid/upper 30s. In-game screenshot with GPU/CPU readouts via Afterburner overlay below...

Spoiler

5. Persists?
Yes, low or maxed setting, fullscreen or windowed, same performance problems.

4. Persists?

Yes, restarted game and still there even after upgrading to latest drivers.

Lowering graphics doesn't help much, so I get almost same fps at awesome and at medium or high.

Turning off AA doesn't solve the problem as well.

1. Give specs and quality settings you're using
nVidia Geforce GTX 465 with 1 GB of VRAM
6GB of ram

AMD Phenom X4 2.3 ghz
Windows 7 64bit
I have all my settings at the lowest. except for when I'm inside then I crank stuff back up a bit :P

2. Say what kind of framerate range you mean when you say choppy

Well indoors it runs really playble. hardly notice anything if there are any slowdowns.
I'm not sure how to show the framerate but in outdoors (city area) I am dropping to near unplayable levels

3. Give an exact location where you're experiencing this (careful of spoilers guys!)

In the city anywhere outdoors. soon at i go outside.

4. And most importantly, try restart the game and see if the same thing still persists.
Yes I tried that.

Place: Everywhere in Europolis. Elsewhere, at least as far as I've gotten, I get a constant 60.

Specs:

i5-2500k @ 4.4 GHz

GTX 780 @ 1125 / 1625 MHz

8GB DDR3-1600

SAMSUNG 840 PRO 256 GB SSD

Windows 7 x64

Settings and FPS (FPS measured with DxTory, which does not affect frame rate when not recording)

1920x1080, Awesome quality, High AA, High SSAO, 100% motion blur - Average ~27-30 FPS, spikes to low 40s; nearly unplayable for me

1920x1080, Awesome quality, High AA, High SSAO, 0% motion blur - Same as above

1920x1080, High quality, High AA, High SSAO, 0% motion blur - Average ~30-33 FPS, spikes to low 50s; playable, but annoying

1920x1080, High quality, no AA, no SSAO, 0% motion blur - Same as above; AA and SSAO options do not seem to impact the FPS at all

1920x1080, Low quality, no AA, no SSAO, 0% motion blur - Average ~40 FPS, spikes to high 50s; similar to console quality FPS

So, even if I lower the settings to the absolute minimum, my FPS drops by a third in Europolis. At the highest settings, which my computer should be more than capable of, the FPS is almost unplayably bad. I just ran Shadow of Mordor on Ultra with a nearly constant 60 FPS; I don't think that Chapters should be performing this poorly.

1. Give specs and quality settings you're using

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 (@3.2Ghz)

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 (with 3GB GDDR5). Driver AMD Catalyst 14.9 (clean installed, factory settings except for AA method set to "Adaptive Mutlisampling" (default was "Multisampling").

RAM: 14 GB

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1, all updates applied.

HDD where installed: OCZ Vertex 4 SSD

Quality Settings:

Started with: Visual Quality: Awesome, Fullscreen: on, Res: 1920x1080, Antialiasing: Medium, SSAO: Low, Noise/grain: Off, Motion Blur: 0%. (the lag was too much for me)

Settled with: Visual Quality: High, Fullscreen: on, Res: 1920x1080, Antialiasing: High, SSAO: Off, Noise/grain: Off, Motion Blur: 0%.  (somewhat better).

Also tried: Visual Quality: High, Fullscreen: on, Res: 1360x768, Antialiasing: Medium, SSAO: Off, Noise/grain: Off, Motion Blur: 0%.  (again better, but poorer visuals).

Note that even with High Antialiasing, there are noticeable jaggy edges for the models.

2. Say what kind of framerate range you mean when you say choppy

Framerate dips below 30 fps, sometimes lower than 20 fps in the first opening scene (at parts not constantly) and sometimes when moving the mouse when navigating Zoe. I haven't reach to Europolis, I am quite early in the game.
It seems better with the lower settings, but still happens.

3. Give an exact location where you're experiencing this (careful of spoilers guys!)

First opening scene, especially towards the end of that second part (the part within some house). Frame rate there seems to be the lowest (20 fps or even a bit lower).

Sometimes when navigating Zoe (first location (more noticeable), and all the rest until the darkness person location, where I stopped playing for now).

4. And most importantly, try restart the game and see if the same thing still persists.

It persists.

Btw, I am using Fraps (a bought version) to check frame rate. Is there a more reliable in-game option?

I used two computers, same result for both.

Stationary pc:

AMD Quad core A10-5700 2.5GHz

AMD Radeon HD (7660D+ 7470 Dual Graphics) (2GB memory)

12GB memory

Monitor 1920x1080

New laptop:

AMD Quad core A8-6410 APU 2.00 GHz

AMD Radeon R5 Graphics (2GB memory)

8GB Memory

Really lagging when using external monitor 1920x1080 (All other games has worked well on this). Got much better when changing to internal monitor and 1366x768 but still a little lag. No difference changing settings to low.

I can confirm that on my laptop,  1366x768 works fine so far - just some slight stuttering in the opening acts right after the intro video.   Fullscreen & SAO turned off.  High graphics settings.  My laptop rig

Intel i7-4710HQ  2.5 Ghz

Nvidia Geoforce GTX 860M

8 gig RAM

Windows 8.1  64bit

I did notice that the Zoe's lips seemed a fraction of a second out of synch with what she was saying at times.  Note that I"m still in the dream sequences section - haven't got to the prison or city yet.

1. Specs

CPU: i7-2630QM (not really stressed by the game even with multiple applications running in the background.

RAM: 8GB @ 1333mHz

GPU: GTX 460M with 1.5GB VRAM (Comparable to the desktop GTX 260)

Game settings don't make much of a change. Values listed are for 1080p @ Medium with medium AA and no SSAO.

GPU is the limiting factor. Clock speeds at 100% the entire time. Peak VRAM usage at 720MB (47%).

2. Frame rate range  and 3. Location

Variable. Lights or shadows appear to be main cause of dips.

Menu: 13  -  increases to 23 in windowed 720p on low

White title screens: 30-35

Intro April cinematic: 15-17 average, 29-33 on overhead shots of April's boat, 6-11 on closeup shots of April.

Intro Zoe cinematic: 24-27 on hospital bed, 49-52 on Storytime

First playable room: 48-53 near the cliff, drops to 30-35 near hospital bed. 61-73 looking at the sky.

4. Persists?

Yes. Repeated this benchmarking several times.
