Awesome news! I'm counting the days.

However, I do have one complaint. Is there a way to make Zoe's hind parts a little bit less appealing? Makes it hard to concentrate on the superbly crafted environments

I for one took no offense of this comment. It didn't feel sexist, but like a lighthearted and humorous joke. There has been more than one comment about Zoë's backside, and most of them have been a lot less creative. (More in the line of: Dat ass!!)

And speaking of backs, Kian has a superb pair of glutes.

He does indeed. He does indeed.

I wonder if you guys would sell more copies if the key art featured their respective rears instead. :P

Yeah, I always thought it strange that countries and lands in the far north would want daylight saving time, but I live at 45 degrees north latitude and most people appreciate the "extra" light in the evening. So why not have it year round? They did it for one year here in the USA and most people didn't particularly like it during the winter season, dark too long in the morning.

Yeah, daylight savings doesn't really make that much sense here, considering how long our days are in summer. We'd probably do fine with just having normal time all year round.

I think it was sexist, Even though it's a fictional person. I'm in general against the sexualisation of women in non-sexual situations. Would you say the same about duke nukem, or master chief?

Just stating that someone has an attractive rear isn't sexist, I would say. It is certainly true that sexism is an issue, and particularly in gaming as seen recently. But crying wolf won't get us anywhere, we need to deal with the larger, systemic issues.

Besides which, yes, people will and do say the same about Duke Nukem or Master chef - or indeed Kian :)

The comment in question did make me feel a liiiittle squishy, but I think that's partly because a lot of the obsessing over Zoe's looks has rubbed me the wrong way. That and I've probably spent too much time wading through the dregs of the internet with all the recent hullabaloo.

My point exactly. There is a reason why you get theese comments when it is a woman,  but never when its a man.

That beeing said, it was not my point to make a big deal about it, and i dont think this is a big deal, or an big offense

It's really not a huge deal, so I think we can move along. ;) Or if people want to further discuss the topic, maybe move it to a different thread. It doesn't seem fully on topic for an official announcement thread. We do have a thread about women's in games, though.

I will say that Kian does have a core group of fans in the community, myself being one of them. So I'm glad to see him getting some attention. (And there were quite a few of us drooling over his fine booty and glistening chest in one of the other threads where they first posted shots of Kian in Friar's Keep. ;))

Personally, I'm going to go back to eating some soup and randomly giggle squeeing every few minutes when I remember that the game is REALLY COMING OUT FOR REALZ AND WILL BE ON MY COMPUTER IN A MERE MATTER OF WEEKS.

:sohappy:

Awesome news.

My only real beef is the early access situation. I paid for one of the more expensive tiers specifically for early access, and now it seems this may not be available for book one? This is rather disappointing. While I appreciate the piracy concern, it's still a bummer.

But, I've been (not so) patiently waiting for this since 2006, so I suppose I can hold out for a few more weeks...

Zoe Castillo is the best, I'm totally in love with her. She has been one of the most memorable video game characters I've ever encountered, and I can only hope that Ellie Conrad-Leigh is going to reprise her role as Zoe because her voice acting has been a huge part of my infatuation with the character, I felt that she really added a TON of personality and charm to Zoe. However, that's not looking too good either, now is it? Unless this news was released at some point and I missed it somehow? All I've ever seen is news of Ellie's willingness to revisit the character, but I've seen nothing more about it since. Unfortunately, the person doing Zoe's voice in the trailers just doesn't sound like Ellie. At all.

But at any rate, I'm still super super excited for this and Red Thread has my 100% support for this game and Draugen for that matter, that looks very intriguing too, I can't wait to see more on that front.

Dreamfall = the first and only game/story that had me utterly in tears by the end, so there you go Red Thread, there's my challenge to you; I dare you to turn this grown man into a teary-eyed blubbering mess again. If you do, you'll officially win my award for the best damned video game story tellers ever.

I really hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but Ragnar's stated that Zoe has been recast. There hasn't been a big official announcement about it because of some reasons. I don't know the specifics, but for some reason, Ragnar said he couldn't just tell us who it is.

I know a lot of people are really disappointed about that, but it's really hard to get the voice cast of a game this old together, especially when people have moved and some people have quit acting, etc.

Ragnar has stated, as you fear, that Ellie is not doing the voice for Zoë this time around. Just wasn't convenient with her other responsibilities now. But we're assured that the new actress is great, and I'm sure you'll get used to her after a bit.

Now. Perhaps it's time to reinstall Dreamfall and give it another go before sinking my teeth into this, eh?

I still think that is one of the most awesome names for someone working for a company that specialises in telling stories  :)

We traveled to Denmark to exhume the cadaver and, through a process involving both modern science, ancient alchemy and Sumerian demonology, we brought Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen back to life. The experiment was mostly successful, although the great writer did have a rank odour about him, and he insisted on wearing long-coats and hats and smoking pipes. Undeterred, we cleaned him up, taught him the joy of jeans, set him up with a Windows PC and a copy of 3D Studio MAX, gave him a pack of nicotine chewing gum and let him at it. It didn't take long before Mr Andersen became adept at both modelling and texturing. In high spirits, we altered the great poet's identity somewhat — he is now 'Kristian' rather than 'Christian' — and, with the help of oils and ointments, made him look forty years younger.

Today, the resurrected body of H. C. Andersen, pride of Denmark and author of stories such as 'The Ugly Duckling', 'The Emperor's New Clothes', 'The Little Mermaid' and, of course, 'The Snow Queen' — the basis for the Disney movie 'Frozen' — works at Red Thread Games, creating some of the wonderful character models you will see in the game. There's barely a stench at all these days, and unless you look too closely, his flesh looks as fresh as it did the day he died. He can still tell stories, but, unfortunately, they're mostly about the things that lurk beyond the threshold of death and the dark cosmic gods beyond, so he can be a bit of a bummer. But we still love him.

True story, bro.

What is that music in the video, it's awesome!

Simon Poole, AKA Slipperhero, from his 2007 album Slipperhero Ep No. 1.

You can also buy the album on iTunes and various other places. Simon would greatly appreciate the support!

Yes, Iceland use only UTC, and they are indeed in Europe.

The point isn't to use UTC to please the Icelandic, but to ensure anyone can convert it safely to any other time zone, even by hand. And not write nonsense like CET during CEST. ;)

Here's the thing, though. Most people know exactly what you mean when you write CET instead of CEST because most people are not pedants.

(Not saying you are.)

So let's say we write 1800 CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME on October 21st. When October 21st arrives, our customers in Europe know that at six o'clock the game will unlock. They're not going to go around thinking "ah, but he did not say CEST, so I must convert this myself!". No. They will think that it's 6 PM. And they will be right.

If it offends people too much, we will just start saying Red Thread Time, which is whatever time we have here at our office on the day in question. Right now, it's 0843 Red Thread Time. Do the math yourselves.

(Oh, and we're definitely NOT going to start using UTC because most people have no idea what you're talking about. Yes, people who think a lot about timezones know this, but you'll find a TON of people who'd start scratching their heads and Googling this to figure out what the hell it means.)

I even had to google CET during the Kickstarter period and I'm still confused each time it comes up, since I usually don't work with any other time than MY TIME and never had any reason to learn what my timezone's name is. So yes, these things are confusing. I like Red Thread Time (because that's Tina Time as well).
