When ever I click-on Forums tab, I receive the ominous pink and white SQL ERROR page. I am sure others have been experiencing the same thing. I can access individual discussion groups provided I have a direct link to the group. The same error page appears when I try to log directly into Red Thread Forums.

Can not access the Forums

Yeah, a few people have been running into this issue (while others have not...which is especially weird). We were discussing it in the Seaman. I don't know when/if RTG will do anything about it, but it's something on the back end.
Mr Moo posted this, though, and it's seemed to have helped a lot of people so maybe try that?
I'm using Firefox, as well as Tapatalk(?) app. The app usually works fine, and so does Firefox.
I have bookmarked https://redthreadgames.com/forum/
This one (pretty much always) works for me.
The "Forums" link on this page links to http://redthreadgames.com/forum/ - and gives the SQL error every time.
The view new content link http://redthreadgame...arch_app=forums
also (pretty much always) works.
So, everything but http://redthreadgames.com/forum/ seems to work for me.

Thank you. Mr. Moo's link will only take me to Cu-rent Topics - a location i can already link to. However. your mention of browsers gave me the idea to try Windows XP and Opera. Opera works!

As mentioned, this is an issue with the web server. We are going to migrate to another service provider and do some more upgrades to our website and forum as soon as we have the time for it.
Until then, thank you all for being patient and understanding.

Thanks. Please do try to keep the existing posts this time, however…

The https://redthreadgames.com/forum/ is a secure connection while http://redthreadgames.com/forum/ is not. Firefox will sometimes give you a hard time about using the old http and will prevent the site from loading. Since I bookmarked this site along time ago it was using http not https. I assume the latest update to Firefox caused this problem to arise of the SQL server error. At firs t I thought the site was down and waited several days to see if it was repaired. When I saw it wasn't, I started to look around for answers. Didn't find any answers so just tried another browser and got in with no problem. That is when I knew it was Firefox being persnickety.
Thanks Mr. Moo for the solution to the problem

Yeah.
The last time we weren't just transferring the data to a new web server, we also had to migrate software (vBulletin -> IPB) and a lot of data was either lost in the transit or not applicable to the new software.
As we're now very happy with - and definitely not looking to change - the forum software, it'll be easier to maintain the forum "as is" (keeping posts, users, current functionality, etc.) when migrating this time around.

Kari, have you tried making sure you're navigating to the https link or just clicked the hyperlink in that post?

or the config for the index is just wrong.
That. If you're having the problem, does it work if you use http://redthreadgame...forum/index.php (specifically asking for the index page)?

Yes. Must be the same issue that is affecting RTGs email then.

I Used Browsershots.org to check the http://redthreadgames.com/forum/ page.
In short: Chrome is fine, ALL Firefox show SQL error. Opera mixed results, One Safari Browser testet with Error.
(I could not test a second time for HTTPS because "There were already 169 screenshot requests for redthreadgames.com today."
Narf...)
So I went to Microsoft to test at least IE:
http://redthreadgames.com/forum/:ALL show SQL Error
https://redthreadgames.com/forum/:everything´s fine
So using a HTTPS connection fixed it for me (FF 53/ Win7)
but I only figured this out by chance, because I clicked on a google link to a subforum which worked to my surprise.
Otherwise I might have never known that the Forum is still up.

A browser can only display the page it is sent. The issue must be with how the forum treats each browser. Wonder how it works with mobile versions of FF, or if you change the user agent on FF to chrome or whatever. Its a really strange issue. Especially since just using https solves the problem.

I'm using FF and never had that issue, for the record. I also connect with http.
Even when you go here ? : http://redthreadgames.com/forum/
Regulars might have a specific bookmark that works, like me. I use FF and only that. Would be even more strange if you dont have the same issue lol
