This question has been answered by Ragnar:

We're not going to release a beta, and we never promised to release a beta. We had an internal deadline for a beta today, and that deadline has been met — but unless you're on the team, you're going to have to wait until Book One is released this autumn :)

If you have any questions like this in the future, we appreciate you not spamming all over our forums. It is not going to hasten the process of answering the issue.

A simple email, forum post or personal message will suffice.

I would also like to help to make clear (to help misunderstandings like this out of the way), that at no point in time was there ever mention of a public (or closed) beta for this game.

When they mention "beta" in KS update, they mean to describe the milestones they reached within the development team. And to give users an idea on how things are progressing, they give us info on how their milestone and workflow is structureed.

So if you read that "beta" has been reached for book one, and stuff like "Europolis is finished", that means "internal".

The only public benifit we have is that some backer tiers can play the game (and I assume now, it's limited to book one), 48 hours before anyone else. (that means, before the official release date). Which makes sense because if it would be releaded months before, the story will get spoiled. (2000% guaranteed).
