Crash when launching since last update

Hi,

 

Since the last update, the game won't launch. Instead, I got an error message (screenshot attached). Has anyone already encounter that issue?

I don't think anyone else has reported the game crashing instantly on launch, no. Could you upload the log files it mentions? They may help us with determining what's going wrong.

If you've installed the game in the default location they should be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dreamfall Chapters\

You can attach files to a post by using the More Reply Options button, that brings you to a new page with an option to attach files below the text input area.

The game crashes at launch for me as well after downloading book 4.

The error message states that "Dreamfall Chapters.exe has stopped working", while searching for a solution.

Attempting to start the game while this message is still on the screen results in the same error message as the one encountered by Mysto.

 

I'm uploading the crash and error files in the crash folder.

I'm unable to upload the output_log file, as it exceeds the max single file size (the file is 1059 KB).

Since you're both on Steam, you could try and verifying the game cache.  I know that sometimes Steam doesn't download updates correctly and can cause issues, and this last one was a huge update.  I don't see anything specific in the log.

I tried your suggestion, but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.

If you have any other suggestions I would appreciate your help.

I did the cache verification and... now it works! Thanks, guy!

 

Anyway here attached are the last problematic logs.

 

I'll come back if the game won't launch again.

Mysto: Glad it worked! 

 

NG1: The only other things I could suggest is make sure your drivers are up to date, and you don't have anything else running in the background.  Other than that, you might have to just wait for Morten to see this.  Unless anyone else has any ideas?

Updating my GPU driver solved the problem, thank you for the suggestion!

I thought I had the latest driver installed, kind of embarrassing that this wasn't the first thing I investigated...
