Hi,

I just played through TLJ and Dreamfall: TLJ. Am in Dreamfall. Chapters - Chapter 2 now.

I actually played Dreamfall for the first time when I was student, realized two weeks ago that Dreamfall Chapters exists, and decided to play through the whole saga. I have to say, I love TLJ, even though I played it for the first time 2 weeks ago, it was still amazing.

Dreamfall after that, well it inspired me to play TLJ and it was good enough to play through it again. But I just didn't enjoy it as much as TLJ, in direct comparison I mean, still an awesome game.

Chapters: Well I say, it is awesome so far, I am really glad the story continues. The beginning brought tears to my eyes, before I was unsure if I April was really dead. Love the narrative.

There is one minor thing that throws me off:

Did it have to be German facist? One particular thing I love about the Saga is how the world has transformed in the future! it is so credible how Africa, Europe , USA transformed and Japan kept some traditional values and yet is still depicted advanced. And it is so realistic. So why, just why, does the facist, racist, chauvinistic guy need to be a German again? I think Germany is currently one of the least racist country in the world (in general, I know there are some minorities who are super racist) but looking at current world order, there is a lot of countries acting more racist.

I just think, that it had to be a German is just so cliche! Because all the other developments of the future are not cliche, it feels like an immersion break to me.
Well I am just starting on the game and it might turn out he is a good guy or whatever, or maybe he doesn't play a role, but really just why ;) ? In east Germany we had an era of socialism too, wouldn't it have been funnier to have a German Marxist and a Polish racist?

Do we know for sure he is German ? Europolis denizens speak with words that encompass the various languages of it's historical constituent regions, particularly those of central Europe, as well as other adopted words of international origin.

Kaiser may just be a term the locals all understand the meaning of. I assumed it was likely one bestowed on Wolf in disdain by someone, or perhaps in an article in the press, which stuck.

I never personally assumed that he was German, although I would have to agree that Wolf is a common germanic name.

Of course if we get to see and hear Wolf in game at some point this may shed more light on the matter

What now, Polish, racist? That's dangerous territory, man, daaaaangerous territory. :)

But, of course, it isn't quite true that we're 'least racist', sadly. With the rise of "not racist but" Pegida nazism, we'll have to watch ourselves.

As to the depiction of Konrad Wolf - who isn't really depicted at all - I admit that many would instinctively think of him as German. Nonetheless, he could be Austrian, Swiss, or any number of European (including Polish). Besides, that's not quite the category Chapters tries to think in - we're all Europoleans now, aren't we?

Personally, Dieter Gro(ß) gave me far more of a German vibe, you know? Boring old white dude everyone votes for, for some reason I'd never understand, even though he's running the country into the ground. Like Angela Merkel! :P

Really, it's not the face of racism that Chapters brings across as German.

...it's actually more the sinister killer who accidentally and surprisingly stands on the right side.

I think I really overreacted, the game is growing on me and I really love the diversity and language in Europolis... Escpecially the choice system, which will probably force me to play through it again after I am done ;)

Well it doesn't matter much anymore, just for clarification, I didn't think of him as German because of the "inofficial title", which indeed is used to mock him. I mean even Reza is wearing a Kaiser Wolf shirt ;)
Just like you said, the name is incredibly German, or Austrian. Anyway doesn't matter, but thanks for replying. I agree with you that they really pulled of the whole united Europe thing.

Also nice take on that one, I fully agree

Oh btw, I just found a "bug". I am currently playing the baby part and in my inventory I have the collective receipt card ;)

I am now deeper into book 3 and I have to say, best game or maybe interactive movie ever.

Honestly I do not care for the gameplay at all, it is all boring running-and-searching quests, but everything else, the characters the voice acting, the jokes and of course most prominently the story. OMG the story, it is just so amazing.

There is one thing that still bothers me: at the end of Dreamfall: TLJ, in the ending when Reza comes to visit her and her dad, she says: "Be careful! This is not him."
I really wonder if they abandoned that plot twist or if it will come to dramatic reveal to this. Honestly, atm I can't see it and I think they will just abandon this.

Btw, I would like to have the previous 2 sentences as spoiler, but I don't know how to insert a spoiler?

I thought that was more like a nickname that the opposing party followers gave him.  Rather than calling him Fuhrer, which would be well calling him a Nazi, it is more like they are calling him a dictator.  I took it to be labeling, not that he was actually that nationality.

I have to agree that 'Kaiser' in this instance is just a pejorative.

This spoiler is not directly related to the thread. It's just that the subject reminded me of the incident. Be aware, if contains info about Nazism. I'm not sure it would offend anyone at this point, but it might, so be forewarned.

Unbelievable that so many years after, some still think genocide is the way to go.
